"It's Your Move" (IYM) is a real estate consumer education unit developed specifically for high school juniors and seniors. Many adults go through their entire lives without knowing all they should about real estate transactions; this course is designed to better prepare the next generation. IYM deals with these important consumer topics in a way that high school students can understand. The program may be offered in a variety of courses, such as Business Education, and Family & Consumer Science. Depending on the teacher's use of outside speakers and resources, the course takes 1 to 4 weeks of classroom time. A video is available to dramatize the home buying process and help students understand the financial aspects of buying a home.
A Speakers Bureau of trained real estate professionals has been formed to provide expert information to students studying IYM. The CENTER provides training for the speakers and markets their availability to schools.
